PIERRE WEIL
1- BIOGRAPHIC SUMMARY
1.1 -The formation of a pacific spirit: childhood and adolescence
Pierre Weil, born on the 16th of April, 1924, in Strasbourg, had contact,
since his childhood, with religious conflicts in his own family,
which had three religions; he also experienced conflicts and saw
wars between France and Germany, these conflicts were worsen the
fact that he was an Alsatian. These conflicts contributed to Pierre
Weil becoming a lover of Peace.
In his autobiography, published in Brazil under the title of "The
Silent Revolution", he tells us how he gradually has dedicated himself
to Peace and, more specifically, to the Education for Peace. At
the age of 8 years old he amuses himself with cousins of him, creating
the catholic association of jewish protestants. At the age of 14
years old he writes in his diary: "My country is not only France,
my country is mainly the Earth." At the same age, during the II
World War, he proposes the "idea of eliminating the frontiers, of
creating a Europe with only one currency; the adults to whom he
talks receive his ideas with a funny scepticism. On the occasion
of the defeat, he organises a reception center with a canteen for
the refugees
His consciousness of a young Frenchman leads him to enrol, at the
age of 17 years old, as a "maquis" , to give his contribution for
expelling the Nazis of the French territory. Invited to choose one
of the machine guns that were offered to him, he refuses the idea
of killing, he refuses to get armed and he proposes to participate
as a male nurse. Thus, he discovers his non-violent nature, even
before he had contact with Gandhi. One day, while his comrades were
preparing themselves to explode a railway bridge, as he was walking
over the trail, he imagines himself as the organiser of a future
school with all of the modern educational facilities, dedicated
to the service of Peace.
From this day on, one can say that the fate, not so say the mission
of Pierre Weil, becomes clear and precise.
1.2- Preparation of the Peace Educator
Life will prepare him, during a long period of superior studies about
education and psychology, for a professional activity as a writer,
as an educator and as a therapist and, a profound research about
the meaning of existence, after an existential crisis, followed
by a cancer, leads him to a complete and definitive dedication to
Peace.
Having a Ph.D. in Psychology issued by the University of Paris VII,
Pierre Weil was a pupil of famous psychologists and educators such
as Léon Walther, Henri Piéron, Wallon, André Rey, Jean Piaget. Afterwards
he receives a psycho-therapeutic formation from Igor Caruso, from
Jacob Lévy Moreno, from Zerka Moreno and from Anne Ancelin Scutzemberger.
In the first period of his univeresity career he does research about
the neuro-vegetative emotivity, about the cultural and educational
factors of intelligence and about the different aspects of personality.
He occupies a chair as a professor to teach social psychology at
the Federal University of Minas Gerais, in Belo Horizonte and, by
the end of his career, to teach transpersonal psychology, a discipline
of which he is one of the pioneers in the world.
One of his books, addressed to the large public, about Human Relations,
rapidly becomes a Best Seller, in 1958. This book has had, since
then, 50 editions. Many other books of the same style, achieve also
a great success, about communication in love relations, about the
relations between parents and children and about body language.
Success without happiness leads him towards an existential crisis
followed by a cancer and to the loss of the meaning of existence.
He begins, then, to ask himself about existential questions regarding
the meaning of life and death. This causes him to find answers,
in a synthesis between East and West, between the practice of Yoga
and that of Psycho-analysis. He was, in this respect, ahead in 20
years, in comparison to the UNESCO Venice Declaration, which recommends
the complementary encounter between the right and the left brains
and between East and West.
During this research he gets in touch with great Yoga masters such
as Swami Chidananda, Muktananda and Tibet lamas such as Kanjur Rimpoché
and Pemala Rimpoché, at the Himalayan Mountains.
In 1982, each day more concerned about the international tension
and about the danger of a nuclear war, he hesitates between going
for a retreat in Tibet during 3 years, in which he would take care
of his internal peace or to join Bernard Benson, his close friend,
and to support his movement for International Peace. He rapidly
chooses the retreat, that is, to begin taking care of his internal
peace. He follows, in this respect, the recommendations of the preamble
of the UNESCO creation assembly, about peace in the spirit of men.
One can say that after this retreat he finds himself ready to fulfil
his dream from the time of "maquis" , the dream of dedicating
himself to the Education for Peace.
1.3- Fulfillment of his ideal
Little time after the end of his retreat, in 1986 he is invited by
the then Governor of Brasília, the ex-Minister and ex-Ambassador,
José Aparecido de Oliveira, to create the City of Peace Foundation,
of which he is elected President and whose function would be to
create and to manage the International Holistic University of Brasília,
UNIPEACE (UNIPAZ, in Portuguese), with the help of Monique Thoenig
(creator of the first Holistic University of Paris) and of Jean
Yves Leloup, then Director of Saint Solace International Centre.
In 1987 the City of Peace Foundation is created, in the presence
of eminent jurists and of the builders of Brasília, Lúcio Costa
and Oscar Niemeyer. On the 14 th of April, 1988, in the presence
ot the UNESCO Council President, Mr. Israel Vargas, the University
is inaugurated.
It would be tedious and inappropriate to describe in details the
achievements of this university, under the direction of its head,
Pierre Weil, with the enthusiastic participation of a hundred collaborators
that he succeeded to put together, around him, during these twelve
years. We will, then, limit ourselves to the essential point.
In 1988, Pierre Weil conceives a theory about the genesis of the
destruction of life on Earth and about the principles and approaches
which enable a new method of Education for Peace. Inspired by the
Venice Declaration, which he included in the by-laws of the City
of Peace Foundation and by numberless other UNESCO recommendations,
he begins to try a synthesis of seminars that he had given to his
students at the Belo Horizonte University, applying the transdisciplinary
model of this theory.
Encouraged by the great acceptance of this seminar, which he names
"The Art of Living in Peace", he writes a pedagogic exposition in
which he shows the original aspects of this contribution, mainly
about a synthesis of oriental and western methods, as also about
a transdisciplinary theory and vision of Peace and of Consciousness.
It is really na international work for Peace. This work was presented
to UNESCO by the Ministry of External Relations of Brazil and by
the Brazilian Delegation at UNESCO headquarters and comes to the
knowledge of Mr. Federico Maior. The Humanistic Education Division,
headed by Mrs. Kaisa Savolainen, published it in French and in English
in 1991 and Mrs. Savolainen writes a preface to the English edition,
in Findhorn.
Until the present time the mentioned work has been published in
6 languages. Mr. Robert Muller, Chancellor of the Peace University
and a receiver of the UNESCO Prize, wrote a preface to the Brazilian
edition. Not much time later Pierre Weil was invited to present
his method in a regional UNESCO seminar in Khartoum, Sudan. His
seminar was very well accepted by all participants, whose majority
, composed of muhammadans, highly praised his work. In 1993, Pierre
Weil presents his seminar to the UN Peace University in San Jose,
Costa Rica. Which inspires itself in it to make a logotype to be
used in its publications and it also decides to establish an official
interchange agreement between the two Universities.
After beginning to form the actors in all South America and in Europe,
an European Association of Peace Education was created with the
specific goal of divulging the Art of Living in Peace throughout
the whole Europe and to multiply the process.
UNIPEACE takes care of Education in three levels: of sensitization,
of formation and of post-formation, of research and of repairing
action of that which the human being has disorganised or destroyed
in himself/herself, in society or in nature.
Pierre Weil succeeded to integrate in most of the educational programs,
this same integrating trilogy of three aspects of Peace, as follows:
1.Peace with oneself (Individual ecology and consciousness), about
the fields of the body, of the emotions and of the spirit.
2. Peace with the other human beings. (Social ecology and consciousness),
about the fields of economy, society and politics, and of culture.
3.Peace with nature (Ecology and Consciousness of the Universe),
about the fields of matter, of life and of information.
1.4- Contribution to the culture of Peace
This new model of education is also considered as a contribution to
transdisciplinarity, recommended by different UNESCO declarations.
It is also a practical application of the preamble to the UNESCO
formation act, to Peace in the Spirit of Men.
Since the beginning of UNIPEACE, Pierre Weil personally leads a
series of symposia about the following subjects: the Contribution
of Spiritual Traditions to Peace and to the Environment, the Silent
Diplomacy of Peace, Military Men for Peace, the Role of the Media
regarding Peace and Non-Violence, the Political Transpartisanship,
among other subjects. During each National or International Holistic
Congress he leads ecumenic celebrations. The last International
Holistic Congress that took place in Findhorn, Scotland, had as
its subject An Appeal to Peace.
One can also state that the creation of UNIPEACE by Pierre Weil
and its present existence in 6 Brazilian university campuses, together
with its action in Europe and in Israel, is an important and effective
contribution to the Culture of Peace in the World.
For these reasons UNIPEACE has joined its efforts to those of UNESCO
and, as possible as it may be, integrates itself to that organisation.
Thus, the school House of the Sun, of UNIPEACE, is a member of the
UNESCO Associated Schools and the University is a member of the
UNESCO Planet Society Network. Besides this, Pierre Weil has an
active participation in divulging the International Year of the
Peace Culture in Brazil, as he signs an official agreement with
Mr. Wertheim, UNESCO Director for Brazil; he also promotes a permanent
divulgation of UNESCO's principles in the META Magazine, published
by UNIPEACE and in his PEACE Network, via Internet.
Let us describe, to end this biography, a special contribution of
Pierre Weil to the establishment of a Peace Culture in Europe.
1.5- The Marseillaise of Peace
Under the influence of an intuition that told him the many national
anthems to be among the strongest expressions of the Violence Culture
and of wars, as it was criticized by Federico Maior, Pierre Weil,
in 1986, 10 years before this declaration by the UNESCO General-Director,
he wrote a new Marseillaise, which he calls the Planet Anthem or
the Peace Marseillaise. He sends a copy of it to Robert Muller who
answers him with an expression of enthusiasm and who declares that
he had, himself, launched a movement for the reviewing of the national
anthems. Robert Muller sings the new Marseillaise at the UM Headquarters,
with a group of friends and trusts to give its text to the chorus
of the United Nations, for performance. On his side, Pierre Weil,
in Strasbourg, at some steps from the place where Rouget de Lisles
sang his anthem for the first time, Pierre Weil incites the singing
of the new text to about one thousand participants of an international
congress on transpersonal psychology. Some days later the text was
published by L'Express Magazine.
Now that Pierre Weil's dream of a united Europe became a reality,
one can easily see how appropriate and suitable it is to change
the texts of countless national anthems, harmonising them with the
fraternal spirit that presided the organisation of Europe. Robert
Muller and Pierre Weil are united towards the implementation of
this idea.
To end, the reader can find in annex, the complete text of the Peace
Marseillaise, as a poetic and vivid expression of the Peace Spirit
which lives in the soul of Pierre Weil.
1.6- Importants Testimony About Pierre Weil
Robert MULLER (UNESCO Education for Peace Prize winner; ex-Vice-Secretary-General
of the UM and Chancellor of the Peace University of Costa Rica).
"The Peace University, created by the United Nations in Costa Rica,
expresses its thanks to Pierre Weil, for his work as the Head of
the City of Peace Foundation and of the International Holistic University
of Brasilia.
Dr. Weil's contribution is remarkable in regard to the fundamental
issue of our days: The Education for Peace.
As he stresses in his work, after centuries or even millennia of
silence, education for peace, at last, blossoms on our planet.
...Pierre Weil and myself, we are deeply thankful to UNESCO for
its benevolent acceptance of these experiments on universal education...
...I, myself, after long meditations and observations, was leaded
to research a holistic approach... It was this synthesis effort
that brought me the UNESCO Education for Peace Prize, in 1989...
In the name of the Peace University, I express my sincere gratitude
to Pierre Weil and to UNESCO. May God permit this work to become
the golden key of a new education as we enter the Third Millennium."
Summary of the Preface to the book "The Art of Living in Peace",
Brazilian Edition
Kaisa SAVOLAINEN (Head of the Humanistic, Cultural and International
Education Section - UNESCO) - Paris
"...The Art of Living in Peace is the result of a seminar for teachers
of colleges of teachers' formation, organised by UNESCO with the
purpose of providing the interchange of innovative experiments in
international education; and UNESCO wishes to thank its author,
Pierre Weil, President of the City of Peace Foundation, International
Holistic University of Brasília, for his experience, for his dedication
and for his untiring energy, which continue with such amplitude,
for the development of the Education for Peace."
Summary of the preface to the English edition of the Art of Living
in Peace.
JOSÉ APARECIDO DE OLIVEIRA - (ex-Governor of Brasília, ex-Minister
of Culture and ex-Ambassador of Brazil)
"...the international activity of Professor Pierre Weil in the field
of research and of the modern sciences is a guarantee of his decisive
contribution to the construction of the City of Peace Foundation
and of the International Holistic University of Brasília."
Summary of the reception speech for Prof. Pierre Weil, in Brasília
INTERNATIONAL OFFICE FOR EDUCATION
A publication of the International Office for Education, dealing
with the Education for the Culture of Peace, mentions Pierre Weil'
s "The Art of Living in Peace", as being the first essay of an interdisciplinary
vision and approach of the Education for Peace.
2- THEORETICAL AND/OR PRACTICAL CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE CADIDATE
TO THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE ACTIVITIES RELATED TO THE EDUCATION FOR
PEACE
2.1- Introduction
Pierre Weil' s thought and action, in relation to the Education for
Peace, cannot be separated of the City of Peace Foundation and of
the International Holistic University of Brasília.
That's why to recognise the merit of Pierre Weil is also to recognise
the importance of UNIPEACE in regard to the Education for Peace
and vice-versa.
Indeed, as Pierre Weil' s biography shows, these institutions were
founded, to a great extent, by himself.
For this reason, right after the candidate's presentation plan (which
was recommended by UNESCO), we recall here that the explanation
of the programs and of the projects suggested in item 2, which deal
with the theoretical and/or practical contributions of the candidate,
is, to a great extent, an appraisal of the programs and of the projects,
entirely integrated and institutionalised by UNIPEACE. Although
written directly by him or under his guidance, UNIPEACE's work is
represented by the collective work of a transdisciplinary college,
as Pierre Weil made of it an organisation which highly values TEAMWORK.
For this reason we have stressed the programs and the projects conducted
by or directly guide by him, as Head of the University or created
and published by him, without the participation of UNIPEACE.
UNIPEACE, in its strategic plan and in its by-laws, has PEACE as
its proposal and as its objective the awakening of full consciousness.
These are also the ideal of Pierre Weil.
2.2- Mobilizing consciousnesses for Peace
1 - Research and publication of a fundamental theory on the genesis
of violence and of life destruction on our planet, with the building
of a theoretical model of the Education and of the Consciousness
for Peace.(See 2.3)
2 - Research and publication of theoretical works about the relationship
between consciousness states and internal peace.(See 2.3)
3 - Writing and publishing of the Art of Living in Peace - Towards
a new Peace Consciousness, in French, English, Spanish, Catalan,
German and Portuguese. Copyright by UNESCO. In this work we find
the interrelation among consciousness, ecology and Peace, in the
three levels mentioned in the biography.
4 - Building and application of a program for the awakening of peace
consciousness, made of 8 seminars under the title of The Art of
Living Life. These seminars, given in a period of one to two years,
are the following:
- General Introduction: The Art of Living in Peace
Consciousness and Internal Peace:
The Art of Living in Consciousness
The Art of Living in Plenitude
- Consciousness and Social Peace:
The Art of Living in Harmony
The Art of Living the Conflict
- Consciousness and Peace with Nature:
The Art of Living Nature
The Art of Living the Passage
- Transition:
And Life goes on...
This program is used for the formation of multipliers of the Seminar
on the Art of Living in Peace, as the backbone of the basic holistic
formation and for the general public. About 4,000 people have had
this training.
5 - A large program of consciousness raising regarding Education
for Peace is being implemented on TV, reaching millions of watchers
(See 2.5)
6 - During one week, before the Gulf War, UNIPEACE hoisted about
50 white flags in front of the Brazilian Congress buildings, accompanied
by outdoor signs in favour of peace. This campaign was widely divulged
by the media and, as a consequence, it was showed in the nation-wide
program of GLOBO TV, mentioned further on (See 2.5.1)
7 - Regional or International Implementation of Activity Programs
with the Goal of Reinforcing Education for Peace by means of Associating
with the Public Opinion.
8 - Building and launching of a National Permanent Campaign in favour
of the Education for Peace, in Brazil, named Hummingbird Program
(Programa Beija-Flor, in Portuguese ). Supported by: UNESCO,
Brazil President's Office, the National Students Union, the Education
and Justice Ministries.
This program is divided into two parts:
- INFORMAL ONE, based on the reading of the Art of Living in Peace
and its spontaneous application by educators, by the media and by
the general public. Diffusion by means of conferences, congresses,
interviews on radio and TV, newspaper reporting.
- FORMAL ONE, addressed to schools and to universities, and also
to the regional ministries of education, culture and justice or
to the local education bureaux. From 1992 to the present time, countless
agreements have been signed with Universities and with grammar and
secondary schools, throughout Brazil.
- The Hummingbird (Beija-Flor) Program has achieved an international
scope.
- In South America animators were formed in Quito and Seminars on
the Art of Living in Peace were given in Argentine, in Venezuela
and in Costa Rica.
- In Europe, the European Association of Education for Peace, specially
organised by educators for Peace trained during the last years by
Pierre Weil, is focused on applying the Beija-Flor Program
in different european countries. Thus, the program has been applied
in Switzerland, in Belgium, in France, in Spain, in England, in
Scotland and in Portugal. The "Peace Classes" are taught in Kosovo
and in Bosnia.
- An opening towards the USA is foreseen for year 2000.
This formal part is formed by the following projects:
- Seeds of Peace, a first contact project through public lectures
followed by touching experiences.
- Seminar on the Art of Living in Peace, during 12 hours, at the
touching level.
Formation of animators with the goal of duplicating the Beija-Flor
Program.
9 - Pierre Weil, with the collaboration of Jean Yves Leloup and
of Monique Thoenig, organised a Basic Holistic Formation in 3 years,
the goals of which can be summarised in one phrase: Transformation
for the awakening of dull consciousness and for peace.
This training was given, during these last tem years, to more than
2,000 people, in Brazil and in Portugal. As a large number of its
participants are opinion builders, the influence of this training
in all sectors, cultural, political, scientific and in the media,
is remarkable. Each one becomes a catalyst of change in the direction
of a stronger consciousness of Peace and in regard to the environment.
It is, then, a deep changing factor of the public opinion.
A holistic training of teenagers and the School of the Sun House
constitute a basis, in the long run, for this action.
2.3- Launching of imprtant iniciatives for the reinforcemnt of Peace
1-With the goal of stimulating Peace initiatives, during each
holistic congress, UNIPEACE prizes are awarded to people in different
media and cultures. This ceremony is always presided by Pierre Weil.
We mention, among other persons who received the prize: Dom Helder
Câmara, Betinho (Author of a National Campaign against hunger),
Brother Betto, Brother Leonardo Boff, Rabbi Nilton Bonder, Ambassador
José Aparecido de Oliveira, Francisco Cândido Xavier, Professor
Ubiratan d'Ambrosio.
2 - During these last tem years, Pierre Weil has presided and participated
in different seminars about Peace, Non-Violence and the environment.
We have mentioned them in his biography.
3 - In accordance with his ecumenical vocation, Pierre Weil has
organised and given incentive for the realisation of ecumenical
celebrations in which representatives of the major religions and
spiritual traditions have participated. In general, these celebrations
have taken place during about ten regional and international Holistic
Congresses. These celebrations are a very important contribution
to understanding and to Peace among religions.
4 -Each two years, since 1987, realisation of Regional Holistic
Congresses in the cities of Brasília, Salvador, Belo Horizonte,
Porto Alegre, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Fortaleza and of International
Congresses in Brasília, Quito and Findhorn, Scotland. The themes
of these congresses are all directly related to Peace. Due to the
number of participants, the majority of which are opinion builders
(from 500 to 2,000 participants), these congresses, divulged on
radio and TV, have a strong influence for the development of a Peace
Culture. The theme of the last international congress was "A Plea
for Peace". It took place in the beginning of the Kosovo War.
2.4- Educational action in favour of the promotion of human rights
and international understanding
1- Realisation of four Symposia about Human Rights and International
Peace, with the Collaboration of the National University of Brasília,
between years 1988 and 1992.
2 - From 1990 until the present time, systematic distribution of
the Declaration ofHuman Rights to all participants of the Seminar
on the Art of Living in Peace. According to the experience obtained
about this subject regarding thousands of participants, by tens
of animators and confirmed by Pierre Weil' s observations during
his own seminars in South America and in Europe, only 10% to 15%
of these groups have really read this declaration. For this reason
the declaration is read and discussed in group. Here is a direct
collaboration to the immense efforts of UNESCO, in the same direction. This
reading is completed with the Declaration of Man's Responsibilities,
of the Peace University, in Costa Rica..
3 - In 1999 Pierre Weil was invited to organise UNIPEACE in Israel,
in arabic territory; the project includes a school where mohammedan,
jewish and christian children will be educated together.
2.5- Touching the public opinion, through the media and other efficient
means, towards fighting the problems that menace Peace
1 - Programs and interviews on the media
It has become a routine for Pierre Weil , to be interviewed by newspapers,
magazines, by radio and TV stations, on the occasion of his countless
seminars, conferences and congresses in Brazil, in South America
and in Europe. The rhythm is, on the average, of one interview each
week.
One can, however, emphasise some programs which have reached a public
of various millions of watchers.
The first one was broadcast by GLOBO TV, in a program called "Bom
dia, Brasil" (Good morning, Brazil), in the morning of the first
day of the Gulf War. The interview dealt with the contribution of
Brazil to the preservation of World Peace.
The second one was a national success, thanks to an interview in
the famous JÔ SOARES Program, which is an audience champion in Brazil.
Pierre Weil succeeded to lead the whole audience to sing, in the
company of an orchestra and of a chorus, the Peace Anthem of UNIPEACE
(See 2.6)
A TV Report GLOBO Prize, in the city of Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo
State, was awarded to a program in which Pierre Weil was interviewed,
together with a street kid who had been invited by him, about Peace.
As he was asked about where Peace begins, the boy answered: "in
my heart", after having told how he lived the violence issue, related
to the drugs. The lady interviewer had to control her hiccups to
be able to continue to talk...
2 - Programs in the SENATE and the CHAMBER OF DEPUTIES TVs. Pierre
Weil is regularly invited to discuss issues about Education for
Peace and Non-Violence, as well as to talk about the UNIPEACE programs.
These programs, started in 1998, have a steady demand for repetition,
from the watchers. The first one, which began in April 1998, has
been repeated more than 30 times. A set of two one-hour programs
are a summary of the Art of Living in Peace, specially mounted by
the studio team.
It is more than clear that these programs about Education for Peace
have, besides their influence upon the great public, a key political
importance, for the fact that they are implemented in the heart
of Brazil's Senate. Thanks to Pierre Weil, Education for Peace penetrates
the soul of Members of the Brazilian Parliament.
3 - The Peace Bell. A traditional means of communication. The International
Society for the Peace Bell, with headquarters in Tokyo, after a
Pierre Weil' s special visit to Japan, offered a reproduction of
the Peace Bell which stays in the UM Gardens, in New York. The UM
General Secretary rings it before each general assembly. The bell
weighs almost a ton and it was cast, melting bronze together with
the coins of all countries of the World. It was brought by the Representative
of the Brazilian Ambassador in Tokyo and it was inaugurated in 1997,
in the presence of Japanese and Brazilian authorities.
If we recall that the bell is one of the most ancient communications
means among men, we can easily imagine the symbolic importance of
the celebrations which make use of this Bell of Peace.
A special ceremonial was conceived by Pierre Weil to receive special
guests and hosts. The Bell Ceremony also takes place in the beginning
of each course about Peace, as well as to celebrate some special
days, such as the United Nations day.
2.6- Contribution in the field of creative arts
Although Pierre Weil is not a professional artist, his poetic and
musical vocation lead him to offer two contributions to the Education
for Peace.
1 -The Anthem to Peace in the Human Spirit. On the occasion of the
Peace Treaty between Egypt and Israel, Pierre Weil decided to modify
a Peace Song from the Middle East, into the UNIPEACE International
Anthem. He translated its text into various languages and had it
song in all regional and international seminars and congresses.
Here are some examples of translations: "La Paix in toi, May Peace
be in you, Shalom Alechem, Salam Alecum, OM SHANTI, A Paz em você,
La Paz em usted, La Pace em ti, Der Frieden in dich, etc...
2 - The Marseillaise of Peace or The Anthem to the Planet. As his
biography explains, Pierre Weil, touched by the creation of the
Union of the European Countries, decided to propose a new text for
the Marseillaise, attuned with the spirit of european fraternity.
And for this reason, supported by UNESCO, he also wishes to stimulate
the change of the national anthems.
3 -Introduction of the Art, in all its forms, into all UNIPEACE
programs. Pierre Weil is not satisfied, in terms of art, to give
his personal contribution, thus he asks the general college to introduce,
in all programs of UNIPEACE, different artistic contributions such
as theatre, paintings, sculpture, music, body expression, etc. This
is a consequence of Pierre Weil' s transdisciplinary orientation.
2.7- All of the other activities recognised as fundamental to
building the defense of Peace in the spirit of men
The UNIPEACE Silence Space was especially conceive for retreat, in
a way that can enable everyone to find Peace again in the silence
of his/her soul. Built of eucalyptus wood , the silence space stays
open 24 hours a day, without any religious symbol; according to
the UNIPEACE spirit, each individual can stay there silently and
follow his own and most appropriate way, in total freedom. By itself,
the flame of a candle shines to recall one the heat of Love and
the light of Wisdom, as inseparable conditions for those who seek
the awakening of a lasting and profound Peace.
There we also find Pierre Weil' s influence, inspired in the UNESCO
Delors Plan, which recommends a new education though which one learns
to know to act, to live in group and to be. The Silence Space is
an invitation to be.
After the sound of the bell which communicates Peace among beings,
people who are here will find in the Space of Silence, the Love
and the Wisdom which are peculiar to the Peace of being.
