PIERRE WEIL
BIOGRAPHIC SUMMARY
Fulfillment of his ideal
Little time after the end of his retreat, in 1986 he is invited by the
then Governor of Brasília, the ex-Minister and ex-Ambassador, José Aparecido
de Oliveira, to create the City of Peace Foundation, of which he is elected
President and whose function would be to create and to manage the International
Holistic University of Brasília, UNIPEACE (UNIPAZ, in Portuguese), with
the help of Monique Thoenig (creator of the first Holistic University
of Paris) and of Jean Yves Leloup, then Director of Saint Solace International
Centre.
In 1987 the City of Peace Foundation is created, in the presence of eminent
jurists and of the builders of Brasília, Lúcio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer.
On the 14 th of April, 1988, in the presence ot the UNESCO Council President,
Mr. Israel Vargas, the University is inaugurated.
It would be tedious and inappropriate to describe in details the achievements
of this university, under the direction of its head, Pierre Weil, with
the enthusiastic participation of a hundred collaborators that he succeeded
to put together, around him, during these twelve years. We will, then,
limit ourselves to the essential point.
In 1988, Pierre Weil conceives a theory about the genesis of the destruction
of life on Earth and about the principles and approaches which enable
a new method of Education for Peace. Inspired by the Venice Declaration,
which he included in the by-laws of the City of Peace Foundation and by
numberless other UNESCO recommendations, he begins to try a synthesis
of seminars that he had given to his students at the Belo Horizonte University,
applying the transdisciplinary model of this theory.
Encouraged by the great acceptance of this seminar, which he names "The
Art of Living in Peace", he writes a pedagogic exposition in which he
shows the original aspects of this contribution, mainly about a synthesis
of oriental and western methods, as also about a transdisciplinary theory
and vision of Peace and of Consciousness. It is really na international
work for Peace. This work was presented to UNESCO by the Ministry of External
Relations of Brazil and by the Brazilian Delegation at UNESCO headquarters
and comes to the knowledge of Mr. Federico Maior. The Humanistic Education
Division, headed by Mrs. Kaisa Savolainen, published it in French and
in English in 1991 and Mrs. Savolainen writes a preface to the English
edition, in Findhorn.
Until the present time the mentioned work has been published in 6 languages.
Mr. Robert Muller, Chancellor of the Peace University and a receiver of
the UNESCO Prize, wrote a preface to the Brazilian edition. Not much time
later Pierre Weil was invited to present his method in a regional UNESCO
seminar in Khartoum, Sudan. His seminar was very well accepted by all
participants, whose majority , composed of muhammadans, highly praised
his work. In 1993, Pierre Weil presents his seminar to the UN Peace University
in San Jose, Costa Rica. Which inspires itself in it to make a logotype
to be used in its publications and it also decides to establish an official
interchange agreement between the two Universities.
After beginning to form the actors in all South America and in Europe,
an European Association of Peace Education was created with the specific
goal of divulging the Art of Living in Peace throughout the whole Europe
and to multiply the process.
UNIPEACE takes care of Education in three levels: of sensitization, of
formation and of post-formation, of research and of repairing action of
that which the human being has disorganised or destroyed in himself/herself,
in society or in nature.
Pierre Weil succeeded to integrate in most of the educational programs,
this same integrating trilogy of three aspects of Peace, as follows:
1.Peace with oneself (Individual ecology and consciousness), about the
fields of the body, of the emotions and of the spirit.
2. Peace with the other human beings. (Social ecology and consciousness),
about the fields of economy, society and politics, and of culture.
3.Peace with nature (Ecology and Consciousness of the Universe), about
the fields of matter, of life and of information.
